‘Tis the season for New Year’s Resolutions! This is a time of year when a lot of folks I talk to set themselves some very rigid and unrealistic goals for the year. By February, a lot of people find themselves engaging in black and white thinking, berating themselves for not being able to meet their goals.
A few years ago a friend told me that she has a different take on resolutions, and I really loved her approach. Instead of focusing on rigorous exercise goals or restricting eating, her focus was on setting really fun goals for herself that were achievable and that would add extra happiness to her life.
A few examples include:
- eat 6 different pasta shapes that she’s never tried
- try a new place for a facial or massage
- try a seasonal coffee drink each month
