For many, considering medication is one of the most daunting aspects of seeking mental health support. At Harborside, we consider medication to be just one more tool in the toolbox. Often, medication is critical in reducing distress to a manageable level, so that you can more readily employ coping skills. Your provider will work collaboratively with you to ensure you feel comfortable and educated regarding decisions around your medication. We offer frequent follow-up visits, especially when starting a new medication, to ensure you feel comfortable every step of the way, and your prescriber is readily available between sessions in the event you have questions or concerns.

About therapy

We do not require someone to have a therapist when prescribing; however, it is often helpful to have both providers on your team to maximize your success.

This is entirely up to what you and your therapist feel is beneficial; most clients attend therapy every week or every other week.

We can currently prescribe most medication in MA, CT, ME, NH, RI and VT. We are not currently able to prescribe controlled medications in ME, NH, RI and VT

No. Your prescriber will schedule at a frequency that makes sense for your care. However, multiple missed appointments could prevent us from continuing to prescribe.

We are not available to answer urgent questions after hours or on weekends. If you have a pressing need that cannot wait, we recommend you use urgent care or the emergency room.

At this time, we offer both in person and virtual medication management sessions.
